Vintage Italian Wine Chiller

Happy Tuesday!

Today is "Italian Day" at our house.  We'll be feasting on some new Italian recipes, drinking Italian wine, and even be having an Italian cocktail.  You can be sure I'll share later on.

In honor of our "Italian Day," I thought I would tell you about our favorite vintage Italian wine chiller.

A few years ago Jason's Aunt Marion and Uncle Rich were downsizing and moving from their home to an apartment.  My Mother-in-law scored this for us before they sold it at their rummage sale.  Thanks, Mom!  The carafe has a built in ice chiller.  Can you see it in the picture below?  You can put ice in that little hole and not water down your wine!  On this day, I put water in it since it was so blasted hot outside.

We love it.  It was made in Italy and is made of hand blown green glass.

I'm off to create some Italian masterpieces!

Blessings on your day, friends!

  2. Anonymous- I'm sorry to say that I have been unable to figure out how much it is and am not sure if you should insure it or not! So sorry that I can't be of more help to you!

  3. These are worth anywhere from $40-$150 roughly, of course things are only worth what someone will pay for it. Most of these are actually only from the 60s and 70s. I have this same one myself however it is wrapped in genuine leather and has the original leather wrapped corks for the top and ice container, I have not found one like mine yet. I hope that helps!

  5. I have a similar wine carafe, it has a brass cork topper and cork stopper in the ice well, plus the handle is wrapped in brown leather. It was a gift my parents got sometime in the late 60's or early 70's. I researched Italian wine carafes on ebay, and found a few similar, but nothing exactly the same. As the previous writer replied, their worth is totally driven by what someone else will pay. I love mine, I use it as a decoration on a sofa table in my living room and it looks exquisite!
